Dear Mama, Dear Papa, Be With Me

( This poem is written from the perspective of a child longing for the love, time, and attention of their parents.)

Dear Mama, dear Papa, come sit by my side,
Let’s talk for a while; let the world’s noise hide.
Your work is important, I know it’s true,
But my little heart, it just longs for you.

Tell me a story, one magic and bright,
Of castles and stars that glow through the night.
Play with me, laugh with me, just for a while,
I’ll trade all my toys to see your smile.

The clock keeps ticking, the day fades away,
But I’m still here, waiting, with words to say.
I don’t need the gifts, the big or the small,
Your time and your love, they matter most of all.

Let’s sit together and share our meals,
Let’s talk about life, how happiness feels.
I’ll tell you my dreams, my hopes, and my fears,
If you’ll hold my hand and dry my tears.

Your phone can rest, your papers can wait,
Let’s make memories that time won’t abate.
A hug from you feels like the warmest sun,
Please be my friend, my dearest one.

I don’t want treasures, no riches or gold,
I need your stories, the ones you’ve told.
I need your laughter, your voice, your song,
With you beside me, I’ll grow so strong.

At night, I dream of us hand in hand,
Exploring together a magical land.
But dreams are fleeting; they drift away,
I need you here, today and every day.

Mama, Papa, my heart softly pleads,
Your love and your time are all that it needs.
Let’s run in the fields, let’s dance in the rain,
Let’s make a memory to heal the pain.

I miss you so much when you’re far and away,
The moments we share keep the sadness at bay.
So come, be with me; let the world pause,
For my little heart beats just for your cause.
